I’m a Michigan-based full-time marketing and communications manager, and a part-time freelance writer and editor who specializes in all things business.
My full-time position with the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce allows me to help the economic development staff promote the region, grow the local economy, attract new companies and investors to the area, and help retain existing businesses.
Prior to joining the Chamber, I ran my own business as a full-time freelance writer and editor.
As a full-time freelancer and certified human resources specialist, I wrote weekly HR, business, and career-related content for the Daily Dash, an online business publication of WWJ Newsradio 950, a Detroit-based CBS radio station. And I also wrote HR and business articles for a variety of other media outlets and corporate clients, including Cengage Learning, Incentive magazine, mediabistro.com, and Michigan Forward (publication for Michigan Chamber of Commerce members).
I also am a seasoned editor, copy editor, and proofreader, and have worked for a number of magazine and book publishers, including Harvard Business School Press, HarperOne, Menasha Ridge Press, and SPConnect Multimedia Solutions at Southern Progress Corporation (Time Inc.).
While running my full-time editorial business, I also wrote about freelance writing for b5media.com—a position that allowed me to help other freelancers hone their craft and learn how to become more successful small business owners.
In former career lives, I’ve also worked as a book editor for a publishing company, a technical training specialist, an investigative reporter, and an office manager and HR director for a home health care agency.
From writing business articles and editing copy, to developing marketing strategies and successfully pitching stories to the media, my experience can help you take your business to the next level.
