About Me
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Web site!
I’m a Michigan-based certified human resources specialist and full-time freelance writer and editor. I write weekly HR, business, and career-related content for the Daily Dash, an online business publication of WWJ Newsradio 950, a Detroit-based CBS radio station. I also write HR and business articles for a variety of other media outlets and corporate clients, including Cengage Learning, Incentive magazine, mediabistro.com, and Michigan Forward (publication for Michigan Chamber of Commerce members).
When I’m not writing, I’m usually editing, copyediting, or proofreading books or magazine articles. Some of my clients have included Harvard Business School Press, HarperOne, Menasha Ridge Press, and SPConnect Multimedia Solutions at Southern Progress Corporation (Time Inc.).
In former career lives, I’ve worked as a book editor and technical training specialist for a publishing company, an office manager and HR director for a home health care business, a manager of two Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating locations, and an investigative newspaper reporter.
I’ve written and edited newspaper and magazine articles, books, technical training manuals, computer software instructions, company newsletters, press releases, marketing materials, ad copy, business reports, PowerPoint presentations, employee handbooks, company policies and procedures, and a broad range of other business- and HR-related documents. I’ve also ghostwritten a book about Southern folk artist, Howard Finster.
In addition to all things HR, I enjoy writing and editing business-related content about leadership development, change management, time management, personal and business finance, entrepreneurship, small business issues, innovation, labor and employment law, and technology. I also enjoy writing and editing content about health, nutrition, and fitness.
I have a B.A. in journalism and HR certification from Michigan State University. I’ve also received formal training in project management, change management, diversity issues, meeting facilitation, and a broad range of software programs.
When I’m not working, I’m usually walking. I walk five miles a day all year—rain, snow, or shine. I also enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, and reading about all of the above.
